The challenge
Turn a shared-viewing prototype into a dependable TV product, keeping live playback, participant video and session behaviour coordinated on the same screen.
The work
Watch Together brought live shared viewing to Sky, combining broadcast sport and entertainment with live participant video on the same screen. I was lead developer when the application launched and took the product from prototype stage through to a delivered production experience, focusing on reliability, real-time coordination and a TV-first user experience.
My contribution
As lead developer, owned implementation and delivery quality from prototype through launch, working across realtime coordination, product hardening and the large-screen experience.
Delivery detail
- Led development through public launch, taking ownership of delivery quality, implementation and product hardening after the prototype phase.
- Built a synchronised watch experience that combined premium video playback with participant presence and live reactions on screen.
- Worked across the transition from concept to product, turning an early prototype into a robust launchable application for real users.
- Designed for large-screen viewing, where layout clarity, low-friction joining and dependable session behaviour were critical.
The outcome
Watch Together launched as a production experience for Sky, bringing live television and friends together in one synchronised viewing session.
