The work
Hack Week at Sky is where new product ideas are tested in days. For three years running I originated the concept, recruited a cross-functional team of engineers, designers and product people, and led the build. The prototypes, including the AR table-football replay, the live multi-household quiz and generative AI content tooling, won or placed highly each year, and several fed into real product exploration.
Delivery detail
- Took ideas from a one-line pitch to a working, demoable prototype inside a week, three years in a row.
- Recruited and led cross-functional teams, giving graduates and senior engineers alike a clear role and a reason to care.
- Chose concepts that exercised emerging technology (AR, realtime video, LLMs, text-to-speech) against a real Sky audience need.
- Alongside Hack Week, managed graduate engineering teams through project work, providing direction and mentoring.
